This is the full fingerstyle guitar lesson for Mamma Mia by ABBA.

Mamma Mia was written in 1975 by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson. The song is the opening track on the group’s third studio album, the self-titled ABBA.

This is such a classic song and it certainly makes for a great fingerstyle arrangement. It’s a really fun, upbeat song with a great melody and chords that are constantly on the move. I’m sure that once you get your teeth stuck into it you’ll really enjoy playing this one.

The Intro Lesson for Mamma Mia

Let’s get stuck into it! The first four bars are reasonably straightforward, it’s just a D chord moving to a D augmented. You may find the rhythm a little tricky as you’re switching chords on the & after 4 count, maybe pull out the metronome and practise at a slow tempo to really make sure everything is landing in exactly the right place.
