Yesterday Guitar Lesson – Fingerstyle Arrangement

The Beatles

Standard (originally tuned whole step down - D G C F A D)

This is the full Fingerstyle Guitar Lesson for Yesterday by The Beatles.

Although credited to Lennon/McCartney, it was Paul that wrote Yesterday and the song appears on the band’s 1965 album, Help!

This arrangement is targeted towards the intermediate fingerpicker. It’s reasonably challenging at times but shouldn’t be too much of a struggle if you’ve been picking a while.

Alright, let’s pick up our guitars and learn how to play Yesterday!

Yesterday Guitar Lesson (Part 1)

In this lesson we learn how to play the intro and the verse. Originally Paul tuned his guitar down a whole step for the recording and I’ve also done that in the performance video. However, for the lesson I’ve put the guitar back into standard tuning. This is just something to bear in mind and it’s up to you which way you do it.

Part 2

The only other section of the song is the chorus. This part isn’t any harder than the verse but it just as much fun to play.
