7In this lesson, we’re learning how to play a beautiful fingerstyle arrangement of She’s Always a Woman by the great Billy Joel.
This song appears on Joel’s 1977 album The Stranger and was later released as a single, peaking at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Although this arrangement is really fun to play, it’s also quite a challenging one. There are plenty of twists and turns throughout, along with some fairly big grips to contend with. If you’re up for the challenge though, I can pretty much guarantee this is an arrangement you’ll still be playing many years from now.

If this arrangement feels a bit beyond you for now but you’re a fan of Billy Joel, I’d recommend checking out my arrangement of Piano Man. It’s considerably easier to play and yet every bit as enjoyable.
