In this lesson we’re going to learn how to play Lágrima, which is a beautiful classical guitar piece composed by Francisco Tàrrega in 1892.

Lágrima is one of Tárrega’s best known songs and a hugely popular one for aspiring classical guitar players to learn. It’s not overly complicated but it is very delicate and hard to play with conviction.

The title of the song, ‘Lágrima’, means ‘teardrop’ in English, which is very fitting for such a moving piece. It’s short and only consists of two parts. The first is in E major and then for the second part it changes to E minor, making it dramatic and adding to the emotion of the song.

If you’re around the advanced beginner to intermediate level you’ll benefit greatly from learn how to play Lágrima. Its main lesson isn’t necessarily playing the notes, it’s getting all the notes you play to evoke emotion in the listener.
