This is the full fingerstyle guitar lesson for I Will Always Love You.

Dolly Parton wrote I Will Always Love You in the early ’70s and she recorded it in 1973. It was then released as a single in 1974 and went on to reach the number one spot twice on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs, first in June 1974 and secondly in October 1982. Pretty impressive!

Of course this has become a hugely popular song around the world, with Whitney Houston’s cover of it in 1992 taking it to even greater heights.

This fingerstyle arrangement is a real joy to play and best suited to anybody around the early intermediate level and above.

I Will Always Love You Guitar Lesson (Part One)

In this first lesson we cover how to play the intro, the 1st verse and the 1st chorus of I Will Always Love You. The intro is a little fiddly but not too bad. Be sure to learn the lyrics of the song to help with the melody in the verse and watch out during the chorus as there’s a little bit of stretch which can be a bit tricky to grip.
