This is the full fingerstyle guitar lesson for Carolina in My Mind.

James Taylor wrote Carolina in My Mind in the late ’60s and the song was his second single from his self-titled album. In this lesson we’re focusing on the re-recorded version that he did for his 1976 Greatest Hits album.

This is such a beautiful piece and a real joy to play. Like a lot of Taylor’s songs, it’s trickier than it sounds but it’s so worth the effort to learn it.

Alright, let’s pick up our guitars and learn how to play Carolina in My Mind!

Carolina in My Mind Guitar Lesson

There are so many nuances in Carolina in My Mind and James Taylor seems to always play it slightly differently. I’d really recommend watching him play it live at a few different concerts, that way you’ll really get a feel for how he approaches the song.
