This fingerstyle arrangement of All I Want for Christmas Is You is great fun to play but can also be quite a challenge at times. There’s some pretty tricky chords to grip and the song is constantly moving all over the fretboard. Still, it really is a blast to play once you’ve learnt it!

All I Want for Christmas Is You Guitar Lesson (Intro)

The intro to All I Want for Christmas Is You is essentially the same as the chorus (at least the melody is the same), it’s just a more stripped down version of it. The harmonics in the first four bars are pretty hard to play but I show you in the lesson how you can simplify them. If you still find it too hard then just miss the first four bars out entirely.

How to Play the Verse

OK let’s now jump into the verse. If you’re not used to strumming whilst simultaneously plucking the melody line you will find this difficult but it’s a technique well worth learning as it feels and sounds great.

How to Play the Chorus

Remember that the chorus is has the same chord progression and melody as the intro. So you’ve done the vast majority of hard work already!

How to Play the 2nd verse

In the 2nd and 3rd verses the melody is slightly different from the 1st.
