Scarborough Fair

Simon and Garfunkel

Simon & Garfunkel’s rendition of Scarborough Fair/Canticle was released on their 1966 album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. The song is based on a traditional English folk ballad, Scarborough Fair, but Paul Simon added his own twist by incorporating Canticle, a new composition. This unique combination of old and new elements resulted in a hauntingly beautiful and iconic track. The song became a symbol of the 1960s folk revival, and its enduring popularity is a testament to the duo’s musical talent and the timelessness of their work.
